Feeling of Quiet 2011
Graduate Exhibition, ANU School of Art, Acton ACT
This work is a visual representation of how I see and feel quiet – not the quiet versus loud quiet, but the calm, peaceful, gentle quiet. The quiet that comes with looking at, or touching something beautiful, an inner quiet that sometimes you don’t notice until it has passed. The quiet that can happen even when you are distracted from what it is you are looking at, the quiet that stays with you in the memory of seeing or touching. A tactile quiet, inviting to be held, touched and felt.
The contours of the pieces smooth to the touch. They look delicate and perhaps fragile, finely balancing on the ground they are placed on.
A restful stillness. Unobtrusive.
